What is SMITE 2?

SMITE 2 is the next generation of cross-platform third-person MOBA. It is a true sequel to SMITE, fully modernized and rebuilt from the ground up in Unreal Engine 5. Now in free to play open beta on PC (Steam and Epic Games), PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S!
Who is developing SMITE 2?

SMITE 2 is being designed and developed by the team at Titan Forge Games, who have spent the last decade focused on SMITE. The team is built of developers who have been working on SMITE since day 1, former SMITE pros and community members, and experienced developers who love SMITE; the average SMITE 2 team member has more than 6 years of experience working at Titan Forge Games or a sister studio.
Why make a true sequel to SMITE?

SMITE is an amazing game, loved by millions, that is built on a technical foundation that is now well over a decade old. This technical debt holds back what SMITE can be, from graphics to UI to audio to god creation and so much more. SMITE’s Unreal Engine 3 is not directly compatible with Unreal Engine 5, and there was no path to upgrade what we had without completely rebuilding. SMITE 2 starts from scratch and rebuilds SMITE to bring it into the modern age.
How different will SMITE 2 be from SMITE?

SMITE 2 should feel like the SMITE you know and love, just strictly better. Our core starting goal was to capture the magic of SMITE’s core combat and the MOBA formula. From there, we took every opportunity possible to make combat feel more impactful, enable more creative gameplay, and add additional strategic depth.
Does SMITE 2 have cross-play and cross-progression?

Yes! SMITE 2 features cross-play and cross-progression across PC, SteamDeck, Xbox Series S|X, and PlayStation 5.

SMITE 2 is a next-gen native title, in development for PC (Steam and Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S|X, and SteamDeck.
When will SMITE 2 be released?

SMITE 2 is now in an Open Beta development state, meaning anyone can download and play SMITE 2 for free! We’ll be continuing to develop the game alongside the community during our open beta phase with regular updates incorporating player feedback.
What’s new in the SMITE 2 Open Beta?
How many Gods are there?

SMITE 2’s open beta is launching with 45 Gods in the roster, including three all-new-to-SMITE-2 Gods - Hecate, Mordred and Aladdin. More gods will be added to the roster over time.
How do I unlock Gods in SMITE 2?

In SMITE 2, every time you reach a new Account Level (Up to Level 50), you’ll get a God Token. You can spend that Token to unlock any God in the game, except for the most recently released update’s God. If you want all Gods (now and forever) unlocked instantly, you can buy any tier of the Founder’s Edition. Founder’s Edition owners will receive 100 Diamonds for every Account Level you achieve, up to Level 50, letting you earn up to 5,000 Diamonds – a $34.99 value, more than the $29.99 cost of the base Founder’s Edition.
What Game modes are available?

Are there any new Gameplay mechanics or features?

Yes! The SMITE 2 Open Beta introduces the new CC Buffering and Aspects mechanics!
What is CC Buffering?
+
CC Buffering is a new feature that allows you to queue up and follow through with an ability fire even if you are hit with a CC at the beginning of your animation. This should greatly reduce frustration around firing an ability and it not going off. As SMITE 2’s currency is changing slightly from SMITE, this ensures that you will have equivalent purchasing power.
What is the Divine Legacy?

The Divine Legacy is a new event in SMITE 1 designed to reward you for your progress and achievements over each year of SMITE’s history. We’ve tracked the gods you’ve mastered, the ranked matches you’ve lost, the skins you’ve unlocked, and the match hours you’ve played. You earn points for your progress in each year, and your points are tallied together to give you rewards:
- You can unlock a choose-your-own Tier 5 and a choose-your-own Tier 4 in SMITE 1
- You’ll unlock up to 11 skins in SMITE 2, free – one for each year of SMITE
- You’ll get a number of SMITE 2 Badges to show off some of your amazing SMITE 1 achievements, your rare skins – and your exact Mastery Level and Star Count on each God. Don't worry: You'll be able to show off those 100 stars on Nox in SMITE 2.
What are Cross-Gen Skins?

All new, gem-purchasable skins released in SMITE in Year 11 will be Cross-Gen skins. Purchasers will receive these skins in SMITE 2 as well as SMITE. Titan Forge Games rebuilt its internal skin development pipeline to be able to support this for Year 11, which effectively requires building each skin twice.
Will SMITE 1 continue to be supported?

Yes! SMITE 1 will continue to receive regular updates and servers will remain available for the foreseeable future. Players will be able to access all of their SMITE 1 content in SMITE 1.
Why aren’t you porting all of SMITE 1’s content to SMITE 2?

SMITE 2 is a multi-generational leap from SMITE 1, from Unreal Engine 3 to UE5. That means we have to completely rework or recreate every piece of content for it to function in SMITE 2. There are currently over 1,600 skins in SMITE, excluding Mastery skins. To just port every skin to SMITE 2 would take about 246 person-years of work. And we couldn’t both do that, and make SMITE 2 as amazing as we knew it could be if we focused on starting anew.

If my accounts are linked will I be able to use the Neith and Zeus Cross-Gen Skins in SMITE 1 on all my available platforms if I purchase a SMITE 2 Founder’s Edition?

Yes, in SMITE 1, Cross-Gen skins from the SMITE 2 Founder’s Edition will be able to be used on your accounts via cross-progression following the current rules outlined here.
I see the Deluxe and Ultimate Founder’s Editions include Ascension Passes. What are those?
